Seas of the Moon, Part II

The Lost Birds
Beaks pointed toward infinity,
They soar into the intangible,
Lost, careening into the unencompassable
With no direction.
Hurtling on wings of magic
They vanish like sorcerers
Who depart for unknown dimensions,
Lost to all conceptions
Of ordinary reality,
Their wings clutched by the void.

In the Land of Closed Eyes
Down cascades of star light
Into the vast ocean of night sky,
I swim inside the bodies of women
In the land of closed eyes.
Past fields of children unborn
I am carried mysteriously along the current
Of cosmic mind.
Immersed in their sex,
Wholly absorbed.
Entwined with their feminine souls,
I writhe in pleasure
As their ecstasy washes in enormous waves
Across the universe.
There, deeply coupled with their essence,
I explode in rivers of roaring starlight
And enduringly dream that I am a man.
On, on into the heavenly night I swim,
Sublimely floating within them for many eternities
In the land of closed eyes.

Janus Poems, 2021
As the year 2020 comes to its conclusion
I reach into the unknown
And take a gamble
With a dangerous move
That holds the key to my future,
A move in which the aethers about me
Tremble pregnantly.
I cannot speak of what this gamble is
For the fabric of this chance
Is much too delicate to pronounce into the open.
It is a secret that only I hold the key to,
I and the god of beginnings.
Much is left to chance,
Left to the god to mold as he will.
I forgive myself for being desperate
But I must take this gamble
At this point in my life.
Much is riding on this roll of the dice.
I place myself in the god’s hands,
Praying he will see by me.
Where I have failed, and failed
Miserably in the past,
I readjust at this juncture of my life.
I position myself as properly as I can
At the doorway to another year.
I try to stand still in this doorway
As time crests
In the waning moments
Of the old year.
The completion of fate closes in
And as midnight approaches
A celebration is in the air.
Horns and explosions rock the sky.
The year past has now all been decided
And the year ahead is a mystery for all.
I study this moment, looking for opportunity,
Looking for how a scheme might be realized
As the horizon of the new year begins to expand
And its wings unfold in the flight of time.
I gaze from this doorway
As the time horizon widens before me, opening
Into the unknown
Of what the next year will bring.
Hopefully, relief will come from this global pandemic.
I curse the viral disease and all that it has wrought.
Again and again, I feel the aethers tremble about me, pregnantly,
While I look into the future, wondering what will precipitate.
The wings of tomorrow and the new year
Climb high into the sky as midnight passes.
In this doorway in time
That opens onto the unknown
The world quakes with the force of a new beginning,
And I celebrate it.
I believe I will be victorious.
