Certum Est Quia Impossibile. Credo Quia Absurdum

The turning of the world around a returning sun -
It is certain                          because it is impossible
I believe,                              because it is absurd,
In each new flight of dawn…

And the resurrection of solar song
That enrings the hills
Is hymned by the choir of Seven Rays
For fools to scour their hearts in

Hills on which the robe of dreams
Is scrubbed and rinsed, then spread out
In laughter, the morning's recollection nonsensical
And our ambitions, our purpose
Absurd, and therefore
Certain as we stand before the sun,
Naked, with new dreams to put on

But those who do not put on fresh robes
They pound and pound with rocks
The ragged confutation of a dream
Their lack of faith a parsimony
As they fabric themselves in contradictions
Too great to fathom,

But holy fools dress themselves in rays of laughter
In which to bring the wearer to the mountain
And cry, cry like a beast within

The soap and lather of tears
That must prepare the born wound
And wrap it in a long guffaw of bandage
In which to heal the world

Rearrange the robes you have
Laughed and cried in    and
Immediately be still
Inside this cosmic sacrifice
Staged behind the eyes

Resuscitate the near impossibility of Light from out of darkness
For everything you move in
Is a mystery of faith that either shines or blackens
As you imagine it to be

This labor of madness…
Soul’s fever like a little bird
Fallen from its nest
In the first rays of morn.

As dawn alights, perched on a branch of perpetual beginnerhood,
Twittering its radiant song in the distance
From out of  the shapeless dark

Await and be shown its triumphant return,
A vision reserved only for those who have failed horribly
But still believe they have wings

And know of no other impossibility that is as great as
The dawn's impossible and absurd journey back
To the fledgling nest of this strange world.

Note: Certum Est Quia Impossibile, Credo Est Quia Absurdum means It is Certain because it is Impossible. I Believe because it is Absurd. These words are from the 2nd century Christian theologian, Tertulluian
