We were a
river of dreams
Forced to
fork
Through a
fragile country, divided by fate,
Speaking to
ourselves
Past
mountaintops of marriage
Still
intimate, knowing a shared body
Of water
As we rolled
apart
Through the
mountains, hills, and fields
Flowing through
illicit fragments of our soul
Over
unavoidable hazards in the river
These words
speak out to you still,
Though you will not hear them,
Communicating
over oceans now
Of our
one-time union
And how
deeply my devotion to it
Is somehow
still remembered
